III: C. Grants for Individuals- Small Businesses, Personal, and Entrepreneurs
iii. “Heads-Up”- Opportunities currently open or anticipated to open soon.
a. Awesome Foundation
b. HerRise MicroGrant
c. Amber Grant
a. Awesome Foundation Grants: The Awesome Foundation provides no-strings-attached, monthly micro-grants of $1,000 (or local equivalent) to fund "awesome" projects, ideas, and ventures that advance awesomeness in the universe. The organization consists of autonomous, global chapters that fund projects, often in their local areas, which can span a wide range of fields like art, technology, or community development. Applicants submit their project ideas through a central online form, and chapters use their consensus-based decision-making to select a winner for their monthly grant, which can serve as seed funding or support for small, new projects.
How it Works:
· Autonomous Chapters: The Awesome Foundation has many autonomous chapters worldwide, each operating independently to promote awesomeness in their local community or a specific cause.
· Monthly Micro-Grants: Each chapter awards a $1,000 micro-grant (or its local currency equivalent) to fund a project idea.
· No-Strings-Attached: Grant money is provided with no expectation of a stake in the project, just to help it happen.
· Project-Based: The grants typically fund new ventures or projects, not established organizations or personal/operational expenses.
· Global Application Pool: Applications submitted are visible to all chapters, allowing any chapter to select any application.
What Qualifies as "Awesome":
· Wide Scope: "Awesome" can mean different things to different chapters, but often involves projects that are novel, experimental, or evoke surprise and delight.
· Impactful Initiatives: Projects can range from public art and community events to scientific experiments and technology-based ventures.
· Local & Global Impact: Some projects focus on benefiting a specific community, while others may have a broader global impact.
Applying for a Grant:
· Find a Chapter: You can apply to any chapter, but it's often beneficial to find one that aligns with your project's focus or location.
· Submit Your Idea: Complete the online application form with your project proposal.
· Await a Decision: Applications are considered by the chapters, and successful applicants are usually contacted within a few business days.
· No Cost to Apply: The application process is free, though applicants are generally encouraged to wait 12 months before reapplying after receiving a grant.
Award: $1,000, granted monthly.
Eligibility: Open to individuals, groups, and organizations for "awesome" projects across various fields, including arts, technology, and community development.
Deadline: Rolling monthly submissions, with chapters in different cities.

c. Amber Grant for Women: The Amber Grant for Women is a small business grant program founded by WomensNet in 1998 to support and empower female entrepreneurs in the United States and Canada. It was created in memory of Amber Wigdahl, a young woman who died at age 19 before she could realize her own business aspirations.
The program offers multiple grant opportunities throughout the year:
· Monthly grants: WomensNet awards 3 separate $10,000 grants each month, including the Amber Grant, a monthly Startup Grant for early-stage businesses, and a monthly Business Category Grant for a specific type of business.
· Year-end grants: At the end of the year, three additional $25,000 grants are awarded to winners chosen from the pool of that year's monthly recipients. A single application automatically makes you eligible for all the grants for which you qualify.
Eligibility and application:
· Who can apply: Women, at least 18 years old and own at least 50% of a business based in the US or Canada are eligible. Eligible businesses include startups, existing, and non-profit organizations.
