NASN invites applications for its research grants program, which was established to
encourage and support research regarding school nursing and the health of school-age
children and to advance and fund quality school nursing practice and school-affiliated
healthcare delivery. In 2025, the total amount available for grants is $45,000, with
requests ranging from $1,000 to $45,000.
The PI or a member of the research team who participates in the entire process,
including the proposal, design, and implementation of the research project, must be a
school nurse(s) engaged in the practice or leadership of school nursing as well as a
current member of NASN. For complete program guidelines and application

Purpose: To encourage and support research regarding school nursing and health of
school aged children and, to advance and fund quality school nursing practice and
school-affiliated delivery of healthcare.
History: NASN has a history of supporting and encouraging school nursing research
which began with several generous donors who provided research funds to honor the
earliest school nursing leaders.
Research Application Process: Application/ Applicant Qualifications
- The PI or a member of the research team who participates in the entire process
including proposal, design, and implementation of the research project must be
a:
-school nurse(s) engaged in the practice or leadership of school nursing;
and
current member of NASN.
-Applications must be future research projects (i.e. not completed research
projects).
-Applicant(s) must follow all instructions, inclusive of specified format and
application completeness.
-Upon notification of receipt, the applicant must sign NASN’s Memorandum of
Agreement (MOA) that lists expectations for the project. This includes submitting
completed research results to The Journal of School Nursing (JOSN) following
the guidelines outlined by The JOSN.
